Before & After: An Astounding Curb Appeal Front Garden Makeover in Seattle

before, after, makeover, michael mauro, yard, landscape, front yard, plants

A few weeks ago I found a website that featured these great landscape makeovers by Michael Muro.

Michael lives in Seattle, Washington and has been a Landscape Architect for over 20 years. His designs are vibrant and full of life and I’m certain that one of his projects will make its way onto PITH + VIGOR again in the near future.

This quaint blue house with a tired front lawn was transitioned into a space that looks like a million bucks.

As you can see, the yard is rather small, but that didn’t stop Michael from creating a beautifully landscaped front garden sure to increase the curb appeal and capture the attention of anyone who passes by.

A brand new sidewalk makes its way to the beautifully painted house, flanked by tons of huge perennials.

Michael says that he likes working with this kind of confined space because every inch counts and there’s almost always an existing variable to consider.

I think he put it best;

“The plants combined can create almost a mosaic effect with something happening every where you look.  The more you look the more you see.  Or an impressionist painting when viewed from across the street or driving by.  Sun on one side, and shade on the other, allow for a large spectrum of plants choices.  When designing a garden, I look for blooming color as much of the year as possible – which is almost always in the Pacific Northwest.  I also look for evergreen structure for winter months.  This project was installed in 2007 with a touch up since then.”

-Michael Muro

If you’re interested in more of Michael’s projects, you can check out his website. As I mentioned before, I’m sure you’ll see one of his projects again in the future…I’m a huge fan of how effortless he makes it look. Thanks so much for sharing, Michael! -erin

    Wow, this is one of the best you’ve shown. I was ready to take the blue house : )
    This is why I love the Pacific Northwest; they have it all, good growing conditions, enough moisture, and the right lighting for awesome photos. Love it! Not to say I don’t recognize the design skill. Good balance of color and form. Love it!
