How to Make an Origami Orchid

Time is short, but I’ve found a beautiful holiday table top decoration idea for you.

The North American Orchid Center  has been uploading a new origami orchid pattern daily for the 25 days of Christmas.  There are all sorts of orchids from all around the country (all are native to North America) that you can download and easily print, cutout and fold.

I have to admit, I didn’t even realize that there are so many native orchids and I am fascinated to learn about each of them.

I am particularly drawn to the Downy Rattlesnake Plantain (Goodyera pubescens) – It goes with my idea for a festive table setting.  There are many of the others that would be sweet replacements for bows on packages.

“The orchid-gami project was developed by the North American Orchid Conservation Center and the United States Botanic Garden as an educational activity to provide information about the conservation status and ecology of our native orchids using models that are colorful and fun and designed to capture the imaginations of kids of all ages.”

Take a look and tell me which is your favorite?

Hi, I'm Rochelle and for 18 years I have worked as a landscape designer, author/writer, and design teacher. I've designed residential and hospitality (for hotels, restaurants, and spas) gardens across the USA and in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. After many years of teaching garden design topics in person, I launched the PITH + VIGOR Boot Camp series in early 2018. Through my blog, social media, and online courses (Garden Design Bootcamp and Planting Design Boot Camp) I aim to help homeowners learn how to confidently design and create home gardens that reflect their own personal and unique style.
