Before & After: Abby and Adam’s Backyard Bliss

backyard, fence, new, makeover, transformation, before and after

Whenever Abby or Adam looked into their backyard, they were greeted by a hideous rotted wood fence that was far from any sort of privacy shield. Being new homeowners, they were big on ambition and change, and also slightly motivated by their neighbor’s two-tone, half painted house. To their neighbor’s defense, I too am sporting a two-tone house, and I am less than proud of going through another winter this way…..but you know how things go. Ahem, at any rate, the two of them got to work and soon they were well on their way to the backyard they had envisioned.

After installing a new fence and hauling 7 yards of crushed rock, their backyard began to resemble a space that was a little more welcoming. They built a new fire pit and added a few places to relax, which can be seen from other angles of the yard over on their blog. They planted some flowers and helped their grass along, and soon enough they had yard they could be proud of. Nice job, Abby and Adam! I’m always a fan of backyard makeovers that are done on a budget. -erin

  1. I must have missed the “makeover” part. A couple of plastic flamingos, 2 chairs and some gravel? Really?

Following up on my earlier post– these are some of the great original graphics that Tin prints on his canvas pillows and canvases. (available at his Etsy site) I have no explanation for my attraction to botanical art mixed with anatomical or skeletal drawings….but it has been a consistent obsession for some time now.   Whatever,…

What’s A Girl Gotta Do to Get a Flocked Tree in New England?

Apparently you must make it yourself. Flocked trees are not popular here, and I simply don’t know why.  I’ve got my 2009 tree, it’s up and decorated, but if you know where I can buy a real tree that is magnificently flocked in a range of colors next year….I would love to know about it….

Landscape & Garden Hotels to Visit – The Korakia Pensione

I just got back from a brief little visit to the Germinatrix and Domino Magazine online…where I found inspiration for this weeks ‘Landscape Hotel of the Week’. I am jealous that Ivette has a husband that will sweep her away for her birthday to such a stylish place…I am guessing she doesn’t have kids that…
