Before & After: Melissa’s Cozy Front Yard Face Lift

before, house, landscape, yard

I found myself over at Melissa Brandman’s photography blog a few weeks ago while I was scouting for great before & after. 20 minutes later and I was lost in a sea of gorgeous photos. Eventually I remembered that I was only there for the front yard makeover google had brought me to. Needless to say, I’ve been back to her blog a few more times since then– one of the best parts, and biggest time sweepers, about combing the internet for a great before and after is that I end up coming across a lot of pretty amazing people. And most of the time, these amazing people have done some pretty inspiring outdoor projects. Take this front yard for example; what was once a flat and lifeless stretch of landscape has been stirred into a yard that’s lively and welcoming.

Lots of plants, shrubs and trees now line the perimeter of the driveway and soften the feel of the front yard. A path was added and a fence was installed to the right of the house as well. I really like the repetition in plants and the interesting trees, as well as the curved border that gives more flow to the left of the yard. I’d love to see this house in 10 years from now, when the trees and plants have matured. Lovely job, Melissa- it really feels like a whole new house! -erin

  1. Wow, you can see the transformation on the landscaping, even the surface looks brighter. I’d love to see it when the flowers and the shrubs are fully grown.

TIIIMMMBERRRR!!!

Trees are falling outside and it is SO utterly distracting.  I have the TV on to try and distract from the sound of chainsaws and the occasional building shaking thud — it is simply not working to try and work through this…. I am headed out to take some photos of and then am heading…

Leaf Magazine Launch Day

It’s finally here.  I feel like a new mother with a scheduled c-section planned for later this afternoon.  It’s been many months and now I just gotta get this thing out…but what about tomorrow — what will that be like? It’s 5:15 am (I’ve been up since 4:30) I am trying to quell my simultaneous…

Before & After: Rainarana’s Front Garden

We have quite a discussion going over at Apartment Therapy about my column there yesterday.  It has to do with Gen X and Gen Y  gardeners.  I have been at a couple of industry events recently where the lament amongst other industry professionals is that Gen X and Gen Y and not participating in the industry….I shared…
