Daily Garden: Pallets for A Community Wall Garden

I love this quick project (using free pallets and a little stain!) that transformed an ugly industrial wall….

Inspired by this garden by Stacy K Floral:

and this garden By Fern at Life on the Balcony :

David Walrod  of Urban Dirt, created this garden:

Charming right?  And that wall looks so much better now don’t you think?

This garden was real a community effort…After the property owner initially contacted Jan at  Two Women and a Hoe (who BTW is in Michigan)  — she reached out to the Urban Dirt Team who came through with the design, labor, and materials (which were ultimately donated by  David Walrod of the Urban Dirt Show, and The California Cactus Center). (oh the magic of the internet to make a project happen!!)

Garden Planning101 – If the Kids can do it, So can you.

Kids have fantastic design sense and even great drawing ability.  I am discovering this as I layout my new garden plans for 2011 with my kids, rather than on CAD in my office as I would normally do for a client.  Both my son and daughter have churned out various plans for our garden and…

Daily Garden: On the Maine Coast

Image found via Jon Setzen from Art + Commerce Image Archive William Abranowicz’s series of photos from an “Island in Maine” seems like the perfect summer garden.  I most appreciate the beautifully simple and handy rainwater shower.  It seems this place is the perfect garden in which, to get away from it all. Nothing more…

An Uncommon Blue Flower To Stump Your Friends

An Uncommon Blue Flower To Stump Your Friends

Summer is the time for vacations, warm temperatures, and flowering hydrangeas. Among the things that New Englanders come to count on in summertime include ice cream and hydrangeas in flower. Just in our small town of Boothbay, never have I seen so many hydrangeas planted. Due to our mild summers, hydrangea blossoms here along the…
