Transform Your Garden From Drab to Without hiring a landscape designer

Garden Design Boot camp - Transform you terrible garden into your private paradise

Does this sound like you?

  • You long to have a drool-worthy garden that is the envy of the neighborhood…but you have no idea how to make it happen.
  • Despite your best efforts, your garden feels cluttered and disorganized rather than peaceful.
  • You go to the garden center for mulch – but end up with 8 mismatch plants (because they were so pretty)…and you have no idea where to put them
  • More than once, you’ve found yourself moving plants…standing back and looking and then moving again. In otherwords, you were NOT working from a design plan.
  • You’re frustrated because your individual plants look great…they just don’t look great TOGETHER.
  • You want to know the secret to transforming your garden space into the garden of your dreams.

Listen, there’s a reason you’re struggling with how your garden looks.

You’re doing what most home gardeners do…

You’re starting with the PLANTS before laying out the DESIGN!

This is the opposite of what the pros do. (That’s the reason they are paid the big bucks)

Using solid design principles will make a garden flow, blend and feel amazing.

Now, these pro tips are not difficult. But if you don't know them, or have a my step by step system for building a plan, then you’ll have to hire SOMEONE ELSE to create your garden.

But listen…

I believe that the best person to create the garden of your dreams…is YOU.

And that’s why I pull back the curtain and give you all the shortcuts to a beautiful garden inside my Garden Design Boot Camp.

Who am I to teach this class?

Rochelle Greayer

Hi, I'm Rochelle Greayer and for 18 years I've worked as a landscape designer, author, writer, and design teacher.

I've designed residential and hospitality (for hotels, restaurants, and spas) gardens across the USA and in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. After many years of teaching garden design topics in person, the PITH + VIGOR Boot Camp series launched in early 2018.

Through my blog, social media, and online courses (Garden Design Bootcamp and Planting Design Boot Camp) I help homeowners confidently design and create home gardens that reflect their own personal and unique styles.

Garden Design and Gardening are two very different things!

Do you expect a farmer to be a great chef?  No, you don't.  Because we understand that the skills to grow vegetables, and produce basic food products is unique from being able to gather a small set of ingredients together and create a fantastic dish.  The chef puts it all together is a designer, and the farmer is a gardener.  They work together - and sometimes farmers are great chefs (and likewise chefs, good farmers) - but one does not imply the other.  It is the same with garden design - even though you are a great gardener, it doesn't mean you are a master chef. 😉

This class will teach you to be a garden designer (AKA - to be the chef) .

I've been a gardener all my life and a professional garden designer for 18 years. But it wasn't until I'd been practicing design for many years that I was able to evolve strategies and a repeatable system that makes it much easier. Now, I use it to design gardens that I know will be beautiful and successful. It makes it a whole lot easier to get it right every time. And that is what I will be teaching you.

In this class I will teach you my easily repeatable system for creating stylish, base gardens that work. It doesn't matter where you live. And it doesn't matter what your personal style is (in fact, this class will help you figure that out too).

Past Garden Design Boot Camp students on where they would be if they had not enrolled in the course:

"Ha ha - without this course I would be stalled for sure! To say I am inspired is an understatement!"

- Sandy

in Ohio

"I would be thinking about my garden project in a very different way. Making the base plan and taking the measurements made me realise the true shape and scale of my plot which is much longer than I originally thought and made me see the scale of the garden in relation to the house. I would probably be tackling problem areas of my garden but not really looking at it as a whole."

- Sally

in England

"Without the course, I think I would have made changes only to find them not quite right with respect to scale. An on-going issue throughout the years."

- Georgene

in California

When and How long is the Class?

Start Date:
Friday January 25th, 2019

End Date:
Sunday February 24th, 2019

Lessons will be posted on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the course.  There will be 4 live sessions (tentatively on Saturday 02/02/19, 02/09/19, 02/16/19 and 02/23/19)/  where students can join a live cast to get their questions answered. These will be recorded in case you miss them and want to watch them at another time. You will also have opportunities to submit questions ahead of the live events.

Time Commitment:
Course Materials will take you 2-3 hours per week to review.  Homework (which is optional - but highly encouraged to take full advantage of the class) will take additional time. The homework is all about creating a master plan for your garden.  Students who complete the homework by the last live session are eligible for a student-only contest.  One contest winner will be awarded a free 5o minute one-on-one consultation with Rochelle Greayer to review and provide feedback on their personal plans, answer questions and refine their individual project (valued at $99).

How are classes taught?

Format:
All the course materials will be available online for you to access on your own schedule .  After the course ends, the lessons in the course remain online in your student library indefinitely. Your access to the online lessons will remain online and so long as you keep track of your log in details and you can refer back to lessons whenever you want.

This class will be taught with a mix of video, screencasts, audio recordings, written lessons and downloadable reference guides and worksheets. In addition to being online, all materials can be downloaded and saved offline for personal use.

Level:
No previous design or gardening experience is required, however in order to fully participate in the homework you must have a real life garden that you will be designing.

Garden Design Boot Camp teaches students how to establish a Master Plan (for example, usage areas, paths, patios, and generally, the overall design).  This class is perfect for those with a blank slate or with a garden that needs an overhaul or complete re-think.  After this class you may find that you want to follow-up with Planting Design Boot Camp which takes the next step in the design process and teaches how to create stunning planting schemes that will make your garden the prettiest and most successful on the block.

Lessons:
Each lesson will be presented by video and will be broken down into subtopics.  Lessons will also include homework allowing you to practice what you learned on your own garden project.  Homework will be shared via Milanote.

Outline Overview:

Do you look out your windows and wish for something more magical and more inviting? Do you want to spend more time outside eating, drinking and relaxing in your own personal haven? Do you have no idea where to start when creating this? If you answered yes, well, then this course is for you.

At the end of the course you will have a strong understanding of your own garden, its limitations (and how to deal with them) and its possibilities as well as a conceptual vision for the new design and the ability to draw up your own master plan.

Do I need any special class materials?

Yes! There are are some things you will need.  Below is a quick rundown, but I'll send this to you in an email with easy links for where to get the best materials as soon as your registration is received.

Apps:
Homework and projects will be shared via Milanote.  Milanote is a free app for planning creative projects and students should create an account before the class starts. Don't worry about using it just yet - a tutorial of how to use Milanote will be part of the welcome and introduction lesson.

Live sessions will be conducted with Zoom and video of the sessions will be posted to the class website for later viewing.  You do not need an account with Zoom to participate, but fair warning - the great thing about Zoom is that we can all see each other and have a class wide conversation face to face (i.e. there is video!).  If you don't have a camera on your computer or you don't want to get out of your PJ's to participate - that is 100% ok - you are more than welcome to participate with the video turned off.  We will still be able to see your name and hear your voice should you have a question or input during the session.

Live sessions usually take a few forms - first I answer any questions that have come up from students since the last session.  I also take live questions and then, as time permits, we talk about each others projects in a round robin fashion sharing advice and thoughts.  It is fun and nice to meet some new online friends and is my favorite part of the class.

You will also need:

Graph paper  - I recommend 11" x 17" or A3 paper.

Tracing Paper - I prefer a roll, but you can also buy sheets.  I'll send you a link to where to buy.

A simple circle template and a drawing triangle  - These are optional - but very useful.

Pencils and a camera (your phone camera is perfect).

A long tape measure or other measuring device - we will talk about options in the class.

After you register, you will receive a welcome email that will also include links to where to get apps and supplies.  All in, if you don't have any of this (excluding the camera), you can expect the materials to cost about $25.

Did they get results? What past students of Planting Design Boot Camp achieved:

"Once I began to put design ideas to paper, I realized the importance of measuring.  I'm amazed with ideas that change as you play around with shapes on paper. This has been extremely helpful to look at the garden in a big picture sort of way as compared to one little area at a time."

- George

in Canada

"I have learned so much from this course. I love the concept of developing your garden style so that it become the guide for everything that is used. I look at my garden with a new eye."

- Andie

in Washington

"This course has exposed me to a great deal - the course content related to evaluating a site, measuring a site and creating a plan - has been extremely beneficial and provided me with skills I can use and perfect for my present project and future projects for years to come."

- Sally

in Southern England

What does it cost?

There is a 7-day money back guarantee (after the course has started).  If you want to cancel your purchase of the course for any reason, you are free to do that with a full refund up until Friday February 8th, 2019.  No refunds for this course will be given after February 8th, 2019.
