Sustainable Garden Definition

sustainable garden definition from www.pithandvigor.comI was reading Steve Martino’s blog this morning and he was discussing his definition of sustainabiliy — it is quite simple.  He said: “when the power or water is shut off your garden should not die.”

I liked the ease and obvious simplicity of this guidance so much I made it into a graphic – you are welcome to share it, copy it or do with it whatever you want (as always just make sure you credit).  – rochelle

Rochelle Greayer

ROCHELLE GREAYER – AUTHOR, LANDSCAPE DESIGNER, SUPER MOM WANNABE, FARMERS’ MARKET MANAGERESS, & FOUNDER/ EDITOR OF PITH + VIGOR

…I’ve had a few careers. The Highlights (in no particular order):

  • Mach 1.2 in the back seat of an F-14
  • Launching Russia’s first commercial satellite
  • Planting a giant Sequoia tree
  • Actually writing and publishing that book
  • Kickstarting a very cool garden newspaper

Other Stuff:
Love ‘Truck Songs’ – a super special mix tape heard only in my flare side Ford pick-up while on plant buying and flea market adventures. Will forever relish the day I was mistaken for Gwyneth Paltrow. I know that there is nothing better than Colorado roots, Montana blood and a rancher’s sensibility. If it is in the plant kingdom and its chartreuse, or grassy, or both – I want it. Can’t own enough pairs of Seven jeans. Thinks Rhinestone Cowboy and Grease were two of the best things about the 70s. Wears Sambas to garden and Hunters only when the mud is deep. Endless wanderlust will forever keep me in good supply of cocktail stories.
Past lives include stints as a Physicist Rocket Scientist, Pizza Maker, and Literary Agent Assistant

Pat Leuchtman interviewed Peter…

Needing Street Wisdom

I’ve been really frustrated with myself for the past few days.  I had a revelation; an idea I was really excited to write about – it was insightful, it was interesting, it was motivating and original….and I had it while I was walking my dog last week.  Then a guy in an orange jeep drove up,…

Folly Builder. Can you think of a better business card title?  I wonder if anyone in the US has that title?   Folly’s are much more common in the UK where Paul Taylor runs Alchemy Gardens- a specialist folly building company. I’m updating this post as I just came across this new project by Alchemy Gardens….
