Before & After: The Big Reveal

February 9, 2012

I am wondering if you have enjoyed following along with the planning and construction of this Earth Designs Project?  I have certainly enjoyed sharing it and am looking forward to starting another series next week — but for now….I hope you enjoy all these images of the garden that Katrina planned for a London family.   It has certainly come a long way — remember the before — the planning, and here — and the construction?

My favorite part is the orange panel (of course right?– the orange fetish thing again – I am beginning to wonder when I will move on).   But I am also quite inspired buy the mix of hardscaping materials.  It would have been so easy to have gone wall to wall with something, but it would be so much less interesting.

Unlike in the US, these folding glass walls are quite common in London — I am wanting one for myself (if not for the bugs that would infest our house) — I am wondering what is keeping so many others (in less buggy places) from readily adopting them for a relatively easy way to make an indoor-outdoor arrangement?

All images from Earth Designs UK taken by Marcus Harpur.   Make sure to visit the whole gallery!

As for the sliding doors: they are a good risk for getting rain into your home. Make sure they are not exposed to the weather side or that you have some drain gate or a step. At least for Germany the above construction is not build according to building codes. And the long range exposes much more space to rain.

But i totally agree that it looks nice 🙂
