Before & After: Mariana’s Swedish Side Yard

side garden makeover swedish before and afterWhen I look at Swedish gardens I always get such optimism.  Especially this time of year.  It is always so hard for me to imagine the long bright green days of summer when everything outside is short, dark and white.  Ogling over Swedish gardens make me feel better because, by my logic, if they can make amazing gardens (with their even colder darker winters)…certainly we (in all places outside of the arctic circle) can.

So here is a little before and after of a Swedish side yard, Designed by Mariana Sjoberg, that should spur you on to think about possibilities for you own unused outdoor space.

Hi, I'm Rochelle and for 18 years I have worked as a landscape designer, author/writer, and design teacher. I've designed residential and hospitality (for hotels, restaurants, and spas) gardens across the USA and in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. After many years of teaching garden design topics in person, I launched the PITH + VIGOR Boot Camp series in early 2018. Through my blog, social media, and online courses (Garden Design Bootcamp and Planting Design Boot Camp) I aim to help homeowners learn how to confidently design and create home gardens that reflect their own personal and unique style.

What a nice moon gate. I also like the very dark grey houses.
