Before & After: Michele & Nate’s Relaxing Front Yard Makeover

before and after, porch, front yard, exterior, makeover, stones, landscape

This beautiful front porch transformation gave me a few ideas for my own front yard makeover that I’m hoping to start in the next few weeks, so I was pretty excited to find it. Michele and Nate have been tackling house projects since they moved into their first home a couple years ago and they’ve done a really great job! This one was one of my favorites.

I really love the way they extended their porch and I’ve been thinking about doing something similar with my own, so it’s nice to see what something like this would actually look like. It adds a lot of depth to the front yard and it really softens the transition from inside to out. I was excited to see that they ditched the front porch railings because those things always make me feel like I’m in a cage! Anyway, I could go on and on, but I’ll cut to the chase- great job Michele and Nate! –erin

I like what was done to the path; it is much more pleasant for your eye. The extension of the porch is great and I will look to see how I can use this on my project. Your post includes great visuals with a lot of ideas, thank you.

HI Rochelle, I’m a big fan and a landscape designer (almost!). I was wondering what it is they planted coming out between the flag stone, and whether or not that is supposed to grow like a moss and cover the patio? Also, I’m wondering how they went about planting it in terms of the concrete base and having plants coming through it…
