Francophile tendencies are not beyond me. I want a house in France (someday) and if I had three wishes, my first would be used to speak the language fluently and beautifully. It is a feat I fear I will only ever achieve with the help of a genie. I don’t want to be cliche about french stereotypes, but time and time again, I find that there is a cultural celebration of craftsmanship at every level – from pastries to patio pots. It is in this connectedness to the wealth of the earth that I find I yearn for so many things French.
Poterie Ravel are French creators of beautiful terracotta for the garden. They create terracotta pots like no other and even a trip to their website is inspiring. Terracotta is a material that dates back thousands of years. I recently read with fascination this story in the Telegraph about an Egyptian Terracotta pot, over 3000 years old, that was left in a garden for over 20 years. A great testament to the timeless and enduring quality of a good terracotta pot.
