Daily Garden 014

By Westover Design.

The Shanti (Peace) garden in Bronxville, NY.  Based on the name, I am curious if this is a ‘yoga garden’  I have recently had a few discussions with clients and my yoga teacher about creating gardens specifically for yoga practice…has anyone else done a garden for yoga?

Hi, I'm Rochelle and for 18 years I have worked as a landscape designer, author/writer, and design teacher. I've designed residential and hospitality (for hotels, restaurants, and spas) gardens across the USA and in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. After many years of teaching garden design topics in person, I launched the PITH + VIGOR Boot Camp series in early 2018. Through my blog, social media, and online courses (Garden Design Bootcamp and Planting Design Boot Camp) I aim to help homeowners learn how to confidently design and create home gardens that reflect their own personal and unique style.

While my clients are indeed Indian and practice yoga in their home gym and yoga studio, this is not specifically a yoga (the exercise form) garden, rather a yoga garden for the other aspects of yoga…more of a garden for reflection, pleasure and inner serenity.

More images of this and other gardens at http://westoverld.com/portfolio_1.html.

BTW, this garden will be open to the public on July 19, 2009 as part of The Garden Conservancy’s Open Days Program http://www.gardenconservancy.org/opendays/.

    Enjoy,

    Robert

I visited Shanti Gardens, it’s an urban oasis in Bronxville, NY. Robert Welsch, the landscape designer, did a great job.
