How into vertical gardens are you?  Really?   I can’t personally decide.  On a commercial level I am way into them…I love to find them in shops and restaurants and surprisingly up a wall in the middle of a city.   But in my own home I am quite undecided.  I just can’t imagine one anywhere in my home.  Have you tried a vertical garden in your house?  I am curious what inspired you to go for it and I would love to know what your grow?

Regardless of my in-home garden ambivalence for the vertical –I do love the surprise and excitement that a vertical garden scheme can create in the most unlikely of places.  Like in this case….the garden that makes a giant grove of trees to distract from the boarded up office building.  I hope that once the building is renovated they find a way to evolve the trees into something else.

And do please dish about your personal vertical garden experiences.

I don’t have a use for them either. I just saw a bunch of woolly pockets at 75% off this weekend (actually affordable that way), but couldn’t think of any use for them at home.

JP — I do think I might have tried a few wooly pockets as a substitute for window boxes (if I saw them for 75% off). I have this idea in my mind that they might work very well in this type of application.

  2. I love the idea of maximizing plant life indoors by going vertical but in practice I find the vertical garden systems I’ve seen clunky and unstylish, especially speaking as someone whose aesthetic runs more towards antiques than towards modern design. Good idea, not-so-good execution. If someone were able to make the mechanics of the systems more lovely, I think they’d be on to something.
