Decorative Block Walls for the Garden

Being the homeowner of a home built in 1940, I find that I can be particularly excited by mid century modern design styles.   I think this explains my fascination with block walls.  I have seen some pretty sexy current gardens that used decorative block to create fabulous garden features so I have been curious to find out where I might put my hand on some as well as some good inspiration.  Well I have just found both.  Thanks to a comment on last Mid century modern garden post from Vegas Ali, I am now happily obsessed with the blog of Uncle Jack the Real Estate Agent cum Design Blogger who chronicles the various and unique decorative block patterns found in the old (by that I mean 1950’s) neighborhoods in Las Vegas.   Very Vintage Vegas is a gold mine of ideas, inspirations and interesting tidbits.

Where can you get these beauties?  I found these companies: A1 Block , Orco and Tileco Inc. These companies have some good selection, but I would love to find a place that can make a custom design.  That would be really fun.
My Favorite is the greek key sort of shape on the bottom, and the the square inside the square one that I think be stunning loaded up with little tea lights. What is your favorite?  What creative use can you think of using decorative blocks?

Hi, I'm Rochelle and for 18 years I have worked as a landscape designer, author/writer, and design teacher. I've designed residential and hospitality (for hotels, restaurants, and spas) gardens across the USA and in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. After many years of teaching garden design topics in person, I launched the PITH + VIGOR Boot Camp series in early 2018. Through my blog, social media, and online courses (Garden Design Bootcamp and Planting Design Boot Camp) I aim to help homeowners learn how to confidently design and create home gardens that reflect their own personal and unique style.

In Hawaii Kai, on the island of Oahu, All the houses have this block. I remember walking home every day and staring at all of this type of block everywhere….. Something about it still appeals to me.
