Manufactum German-Made Garden Tools

February 17, 2012

I’m a tool girl – I love a good sturdy device that takes the back-breaking part out of back-breaking labor.   I also love a tool that is so clever that it solves not one but many problems.  And being well made and something that you only need to buy once, because it will last a lifetime, is simply a must.  So, with this as a basis, I am exchanging dollars for euros to get me some of these German-made Manufactum garden tools.

These are my favorites, but you really ought to go visit for yourself as I am sure you will find your own perfect tool to solve that issue that you have been putting off fixing until just now.

Top image: (clockwise from top left) 1) Terracotta Clematis Root protector — I’ve got a poor little plant who wants to badly to get big and beautiful in it’s sunny location, but the roots…oh, they just so hate the sun that the rest of the plant loves., 2) Handy twine on good hanging spools.  It’s a simple thing, but if they can avoid being thrown in with other things, so many tangles can be avoided. 3) Rubber corner connectors.  My kids have a toy like this to make forts with sticks and sheets…its brilliant….why didn’t I think of the same for custom garden supports in whatever shape and size that you need?  4)  Simple classic seed saving envelopes.

Bottom Image : (clockwise from top left) 1) Swedish Hand Weeder — new to me, but looks so handy (not pun intended).  2) A gas and electric free, greenhouse heater that keeps 2 square meters frost free for 10 days at time.  Simple and sweet…now I just need the greenhouse.  3) A Woolen kneeling pad worth having.  4) I love the industrial feel of this pot mover.  I’d love to have one for every container on my patio.
