Recycled Water Wise Bricks for the Garden

I discovered these interesting bricks that are an exciting option for the landscape over at Urban Gardens (who found them via Yanko Design and IIDA) .

The concept is very interesting and I love the re-use/re-cycle concept, but I have to admit some skepticism at the plastic-y look of them.  I am just not sure how well that plays in the landscape, but the concept is there for the improving.  Maybe using more traditional earthen materials, or the idea of a more interesting and seamless wall to ground conversion (an alternative to gutters?), and certainly the concept of rain gardens being more prolific makes me optimistic. What do you think?  How would you use them?

Hi, I'm Rochelle and for 18 years I have worked as a landscape designer, author/writer, and design teacher. I've designed residential and hospitality (for hotels, restaurants, and spas) gardens across the USA and in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. After many years of teaching garden design topics in person, I launched the PITH + VIGOR Boot Camp series in early 2018. Through my blog, social media, and online courses (Garden Design Bootcamp and Planting Design Boot Camp) I aim to help homeowners learn how to confidently design and create home gardens that reflect their own personal and unique style.

yes – the concept is good however I do wonder if they will just fill up with dirt and also become a trip hazard – I too would like this in another format – by the way what are rain gardens? – is that the american term for swales or wetlands?
