The transformation Gisela made in her Northern California Garden is truly extraordinary!
All the rusty wheels, springs, bits and bobs really give a cohesiveness to the garden. It is like an art gallery of rust covered implements. Repetition in the garden is a good thing and I have to say I never really thought about repeating something like garden art or sculpture in this way to bring together a design. It has me thinking about other ways (besides repeating plants) to make a design cohesive. Have you done this in a garden…what non-plant items did you repeat?
Wow… I love it. I’ve never thought about repeated sculpture as a design element either — currently I have NO non-plant items in my garden. Something to think about.
You added a lot of pop in the back garden area. Using rusty found objects? looks like a good solution…plus I am a sucker for anything with a little rusty (or mossy) patina on it. Matti
Great idea, I’m going to remember this for future consideration. In my own garden, I’ve considered the option of staying with one repeating style for planters/pots as well as fences/structures. As soon as I think I’ve made a decision, I see something that breaks the “rules” that I must have. So for now, I keep it consistent within the line of vision from wherever you are viewing the garden.
love this! thanks for sharing.
