Daily Garden: Jacob’s Ancient Jerusalem Garden

jacob cohen garden design jerusalem israel ancient home dry garden

Yesterday I shared an Iraeli garden that had a rather lush looking lawn….a few of you commented.  Yes ,I agree…while I am not completely up on water issues in the middle east, I suspect you are correct that a lush lawn in this part of the world is not the most responsible choice for that homeowner to make.  This garden however was designed to be very water wise and sensitive to the ancient architecture of the home it serves.

I think the Pale blue paint accents and the dark blue of the water rill provide the lush cool feeling that grass does in the other garden.

Jacob Cohen designed this garden to pay homage to, and accentuate the ancient architecture of the home.  Personally, I could happily spend many happy hours with my family sitting, reading, computing, playing, dipping our toes in the water….

What inspiration do you get from this garden?
