Daily Garden: Nicole de Vesian’s La Louve (The She-Wolf)

Nicole de Vésian is well known for her career in fashion at the House of Hermes, but in her not so retiring, retirement, she found new fame working as a garden designer. Her own garden at her home in Bonnieux, in the Provence region of  France is a beautiful tapestry of three dimensional shapes.   “La Louve” (The She-Wolf) has often been called her greatest design project.  La Louve covers less than 500 square metres and is built on hillside terraces. The Current owner, Judith Pillsbury, an art dealer, calls it the most important work of art she owns.  The inspiration I am personally taking from this floral-free shapely masterpiece reminds me that I think I need a few more evergreen shapes in my own garden.

This garden has been on my must see list since I saw my first picture of it. Thanks for reminding me that I want to go and also that I’m not in France for the summer!
