Japanese Garden Playhouse

July 6, 2010

Here is a little inspiration for you that I found over at Cretique (click for more images).  It has me thinking of garden buildings that have the roof built inside the structure, play structures that are knitted, and Lincoln log- like construction…as well as jaw dropping coolness….

This place looks crazy cool with the fog coming in. Great find. Time to bust our my linkin logs and make a mini version for the back garden. Matti

  2. Kate says:

I’ve actually been here – it’s an amazing space! The white floor is like softfall – kind of squishy. And when you jump onto those hanging ball things you swing and bounce around like crazy – you can also actually climb into that colourful central knitted bit as well (if you’re small enough that is!).
Technically it’s only for children under 13 but hey, I think if you’re young at heart then that’s okay! When I was there kids were running around all over the place – they absolutely love it. It’s in the Hakone Open Air Museum which is actually a really kid-friendly sculpture museum just out of Tokyo.
