Before & After: Sarah’s Enlivened Front Yard

October 18, 2012

It takes a lot of work to pull off a cottage garden that looks amazing all summer long, and it seems that more often than not I see these types of gardens finding themselves in a state of mid-season dissaray. And since most of us don’t have half as much time to dedicate to gardening as we’d like, this is what a once-beautiful garden usually transpires to.

I myself have been working hard to disassemble and regroup the cottage gardens that plastered our yard when we moved in 3 years ago, so when I saw these photos over on Sarah’s blog, I knew exactly what she was dealing with. A big, gangly, uncombed mess. This “after” shot is a huge difference, isn’t it?

Being up against constant weeding, Sarah decided it was time for something a little more manageable. She enhanced the look of the front yard by demolishing just about everything that was growing and started over. Crisp green grass and a much cleaner path really made her house come to life. People even began to stop by to tell her how much they loved it! It’s always nice when neighbors notice your hard work– great job, Sarah! –erin
