Before & After: An Amazing Exterior Overhaul in Seattle

June 20, 2013

So, I can’t really come up with a word that does this Before & After even the least bit of justice, so I’ll stop searching and just say that it’s more than incredible. I saw the after photo and it just had that look to it…you know the one…you take one glance at it and think “this had to have been a HUGE job” as you start sifting through archives searching for the before picture. Well, I found it, and yeah- it’s beyond stellar.

before and after, front yard. improvement, makeover, landscape

Yeah. Pretty much makes me feel like I haven’t done a single thing to my own house in terms of visual impact. Sure, I painted the exterior….but it’s nowhere near as great as the colors on this one. I love that they hacked down all the original shrubs and greenery to make room for plants that would support the gorgeous colors and overall vibe. Oh, and in case you couldn’t tell- the homeowners are both architects. I knew they had to be designers of some sort! This is just too good for them not to work in the field. Anyway, yes- sweet house. Check out their blog to see the interior and the rest of the photos from outside. Definitely worth a few minutes of your time. –erin

Looks really nice. Refreshing change. I’d be curious as to what you would do with my front yard which is on a hill and mostly grass. Very traditional with little balls of holly!! I am working on lightening it up , but not sure what to do about the grass. We Southerners treasure our grass. Here is Augusta, home of the MastersGolf Tournament it’s almost a sin to get rid of the grass!

    Great job.

The nice thing about this is how they left the basic footprint. Lots of grunt work taking out overgrown plants, but notice the steps and retaining wall remained the same. Same for the house, just some update to the porch and new paint. Good savings on time energy and resources, with overall gain. Great vision!
Thanks for sharing. I just found this blog. This is good.

Now that is a head-turner house! I like the door a lot, the color and how it is so inviting to every visitor. Great job!

Wow! It’s gorgeous, and I especially like the dark blue painting with white trim. One of my favorite combinations for cottage style houses.
